About

James (Jim) Hancock, President of A BETTER CONNECTION, retired from AT&T in 1991 after 27 years
of service. Through the now defunct Pacific Telephone he received extensive training in several telephone
disciplines. After PT&T was sold to AT&T and he was transferred to Lucent, he retired and opened a company in
an unrelated Field. In 1993, he decided that the telephone industry was his forte and he opened WOW Telephone
Services: shortly thereafter renamed, “A BETTER CONNECTION.” Jim has an AS degree in Supervision, a
Certificate in Computer Technology from Southwestern College in Chula Vista Ca. and received his contractors
License in 1994.

Jim opened A BETTER CONNECTION as a sole proprietorship in 1994 and was the sole employee. He incorporated A BETTER CONNECTION in 2009. Over the years, a few employees were added to the team. Jim has kept the company small in order to maintain control over quality and to provide that personal touch lacking in larger companies. Through the current economic realities, A BETTER CONNECTION has been able to keep its employees busy and maintain its excellent standard of service and quality.

In 1999, Jim was approached by ESI, a company whose only products are telephones. He became a
certified installer and dealer because he was impressed by their philosophy and the products they manufactured.
Bryce and Gary have both certified as ESI installers. We recommend ESI whenever we get an opportunity. Jim,
Bryce and Gary are also certified by various cable manufactures. Gary has additional training in Computer
Networks.
